The Connecticut Department of Revenue Services (DRS) Tax Amnesty Program runs through Monday, January 31, 2022. It provides a 75% reduction in interest and waives penalties and the possibility of criminal prosecution to those who have not filed, have underreported or have existing liabilities related to taxes owed to the state for any tax period ending on or before December 31, 2020.
Most taxes administered by the Connecticut DRS are eligible for amnesty; however, Connecticut motor carrier road tax (IFTA) is not eligible. Taxpayers seeking amnesty can access all program information, including eligibility and a link to secure online payment, via the Tax Amnesty program website at GetRightCT.com.
The tax amnesty program is a voluntary program. Taxpayers who have unfiled returns, underreported obligations, or existing tax obligations who do not take advantage of the Connecticut tax amnesty program by January 31, 2022, will not be eligible for the benefits of the program.
Filing Connecticut taxes is not voluntary. Taxpayers who do not resolve their Connecticut tax obligations in full by January 31, 2022, will be subject to penalties and paying full interest, and could face criminal prosecution.
